We're grateful for your continued support! This major update introduces our new DLC model and exciting new features that push the boundaries of what's possible in Brain Candy.

  • Breathing is now a paid DLC! Purchasing add-on content is what will make ongoing development of the project possible and is being used instead of a subscription model which most other strobe platforms do.
  • Infinite zoom preview scenes! I've added two infinite zoom scenes as a preview of a new pack of content that will be coming soon.
  • Performance improvements! Enhanced overall app performance for smoother experiences.

Version 1.0.32

A new version of Brain Candy is here, and we're getting close to leaving early access behind. This update brings some of the most requested features along with exciting new capabilities.

Have a look through the many videos in the playlist here to get a taste:

  • Fractals are finally here! This feature is named after Brain Candy's science advisor, Till Holzapfel, who has been guiding our journey toward "fractal fluency" – exploring how certain patterns can be naturally soothing to both the eyes and brain. The implementation is based on a shader technique inspired by Fraksl app.
  • True pure strobing! My previous "pure" strobing actually contained some subtle, low-contrast patterns. Interestingly, these impurities seemed to create unusual visual effects – I could see what looked like the veins in my eyes, moving independently when I moved my gaze. It's different from pure strobing and definitely worth investigating further.
  • Guided meditations! Starting with introductions to different breathwork techniques, I've built a system for creating voice-guided meditation content. One of my favorites explores the concept of biblically accurate angels.
  • Biofeedback integration! I've finally incorporated head movement breath detection along with heart rate monitoring capabilities.
  • Interactive experiences! There's now one interactive scene called "Interactive Ions" in the Energize category – you can rotate your hands to adjust the candy effects. It's incredibly satisfying, and I'm planning to add this interaction system to other scenes.
  • Fresh opening screen! We've got a new Brain design, and now it can see into your soul.
